Miss Hemalatha Jayabal is a Marie-Curie doctoral fellow in the School of Health Sciences at the University of Southampton. Her background includes a MTech in Chemical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay. During her Masters program, she worked on developing Point of Care (PoC) tools for detection of tobacco consumption.
Hemalatha also worked as a Researcher at Tata Research Design and Development Centre (Pune, India) where she developed multiscale models as well as molecular dynamics models to investigate the mechanical behavior of skin.
Hemalatha is an early stage researcher from the STINTS consortium (https://www.stints.eu/) and her research focusses on identifying early changes in skin integrity using biomarkers. The research aims at investigating the changes in biochemical markers underpinning the inflammatory process preceding skin damage.
