The Centre for Risk Research has welcomed Dr Will Jennings, Director of the Centre for Citizenship, Globalization and Governance (C2G2) at the University of Southampton, as its newest member.

Centre for Citizenship, Globalization and Governance

Dr Will Jennings recently delivered an interdisciplinary workshop on risk, governance and security at the University of Southampton. This event was attended by a variety of risk practitioners and academics, including the Centre for Risk Research (CRR) Co-ordinator, Dr Ian Dawson. The workshop motivated a range of constructive discussions concerning topics such as climate change, the safety of nuclear power and how to develop better risk resilience.

Building on Will's success in developing this interdisciplinary dialogue between risk researchers, Professor Johnnie Johnson (Director of the CRR) subsequently invited Will to join the CRR. Will quickly accepted this offer and commented "I'm delighted to become a member of the CRR and look forward to attending some of the Centre's upcoming events and developing closer links with its members".

Will is a Reader in Politics and has developed a strong background in examining the risk associated with mega-events such as the Olympic Games. Will's work has been published in a wide variety of highly respected journals and he has recently written a book entitled Olympic Risks, which explores the governance of the Olympic Games and the Olympic movement.
