Throughout August 2014, the Centre for Risk Research hosted two Associate Professors, Dr. Raquel Florez-Lopez and Dr. Juan Manuel Ramon-Jeronimo, from Pablo Olavide University of Seville (Spain).

Raquel and Juan have been working on research projects with Professor Johnnie Johnson, Professor Ming Chien Sung, Dr. Tiejun Ma and other members of the Centre for Risk Research. Raquel’s research interests are focused in risk management and risk modelling using advanced statistical and machine learning models. During her research visit, Raquel has been working with the Centre for Risk Research team on modelling risk taking behaviours in high-complexity situations associated with betting markets.

Juan’s research focuses on risk management and control, with special emphasis on supply chain relationships. During his visit to the Centre Juan has been working on a publicly-funded research project on ‘Managing efficiency in high risk environments’. This has involved analysing cooperative export relationships in food chain businesses. This is a joint project with members of the Centre for Risk Research, Pablo Olavide University, and University of Portsmouth.
