Centre for Risk Research praised for highly successful KTP project

Published: 27 February 2015

The Centre for Risk Research recently completed a Knowledge Transfer Project with city-based London Capital Group (LCG). The project was heralded as a ‘great success’ at the final meeting of the local management committee on 18th February.

The project, which started in February 2013, led to the development of sophisticated mathematical models to support LCG’s hedging operation. The Centre’s Juan Carlos Moreno Paredes (pictured right in the photo above) acted as the project’s Associate. He was praised by representatives of LCG and the Technology Strategy Board (now Innovate UK), who jointly funded the project, for his excellent work ethic and for his skill in producing algorithms that are expected to increase LCG’s profits substantially.

The leaders of the project, Professor Ming-Chien Sung, Dr Tiejun Ma and Professor Johnnie Johnson were also praised for their energy and commitment in managing this highly successful research project and for the knowledge transfer and academic papers that have resulted. A LCG spokesperson said “There has been an amazing transformation in the company’s sophisticated use of data since the project began and we expect that the models developed on the project will bring about significant increases in our profits”.
