The ICGRT is now in its 16th year

Tim Baker, a PhD student from the Centre for Risk Research (CRR), recently attended the 16th International Conference on Gambling & Risk Taking in Las Vegas where he presented a paper on insights into the predictive value of pedigree information in horse racing.

The International Conference on Gambling & Risk Taking was the world’s first conference dedicated to the study of all aspects of gambling. The 16th conference in this series was held in Las Vegas in June 2016, attracting 600 delegates from 31 countries.

Tim Baker’s paper, jointly authored with Professor Johnnie Johnson, Professor Ming-Chien Sung and Dr. Tiejun Ma was very well received and Tim gained a great deal from the conference: “The conference offered a wonderful opportunity to network with representatives from a wide range of disciplines including researchers and leaders from around the globe, together with regulatory and government officials and professional gamblers”.

The CRR has acted as Associate Sponsors of The International Conference on Gambling & Risk Taking. The conference provided CRR members with insights into the cutting edge technologies being implemented in casino and online gaming as well as innovative modelling techniques and investment strategies used by the world’s best speculative traders. This and previous events have proved a fantastic way to open doors for future potential collaborative research partnerships.
