CRR membership continues to grow

The Centre for Risk Research (CRR) is pleased to announce the Professor Huifu Xu, from the School of Mathematics at the University of Southampton, has become its latest member.

Huifu Xu obtained a BSc degree and MSc degree in computational mathematics from Nanjing University, China in the 1980s. He worked at Ningbo University for a few years before moving to Australia to obtain a PhD in numerical optimization at University of Ballarat in 1999. Following three years postdoctoral research at Australian Graduate School of Management, he became a lecturer and then senior lecturer at the University of Southampton. In 2013 he was appointed as a professor of operational research at City University London and returned to Southampton in 2015. Huifu has more than 25 years research experience in continuous optimization with particular focus on stochastic programming and robust optimization.

In response to becoming a member of the CRR, Huifu said ""I am very impressed by the research work that CRR is carrying out and am looking forward to the opportunities for collaborative research on quantitative aspect of risk management using cutting edge techniques in stochastic programming and robust optimization."
