Dr. Jeremy Cheah has joined the Centre for Risk Research, having taken up the position of Associate Professor of Finance at Southampton Business School (SBS) in October 2016.

Jeremy was formerly a Reader in Finance at Sheffield Hallam University (from 2016) and previously a Lecturer in Finance at the University of Sheffield (from 2011). Prior to taking up his post at Sheffield, Jeremy was a PhD student in the Centre for Risk Research. His PhD on “The implications of information processing efficiency on decision making” was completed in under 3 years (2008-11) under the supervision of Professors Johnnie Johnson and Ming Chien Sung.

On taking up his recent post, Jeremy commented: “I am delighted to be back in Southampton. SBS is the place to be if you are highly motivated to achieve its very ambitious mission and vision! In addition, the prestigious Centre for Risk Research is recognised worldwide as a leading centre in many areas related to risk behaviour and risk-analysis. It is the combination of ambition and recognition that attracted me to return to Southampton”. Jeremy has research interests in both risk and applied quantitative analysis in business, and as a result, he is also a member of the Centre for Computational Finance and Business Analytics.
