Event details

In this Centre for Risk Research seminar, Conrad D'Souza will explain that, in recent years, Topological Data Analysis (TDA) has emerged as a framework for graphical data analysis, wherein data is understood to have shape and this shape has meaning. He will demonstrate how one such topological technique can be used to measure the underlying competitive quality of horses in races, based on their past performances. His results indicate that this technique is able to extract the valuable information contained in this data and that this is not accounted for by the betting public.
