Anita is an Associate Professor in Criminology within the Department of Sociology, Social Policy & Criminology at the University of Southampton.




She joined Southampton in 2015, after one year lecturing at the University of Wolverhampton.

Anita is currently leading research projects on Internet-facilitated wildlife trafficking (ESRC New Investigator Grant) and health frauds.

She welcome enquiries about potential PhD supervision in the following areas:

Research interests

Cybercrimes, serious and organised crime, environmental crime, fraudolent alternative medicine, global and comparative criminology.

Anita is the co-editor of the European Review of Organised Crime and an executive member of the ECPR Standing Group on Organised Crime.

She is member of the ERGO Review Panel for the Faculty of Social Sciences, and ECR Representative in the Faculty Research and Enterprise Committee.

She is also the Student Experience Lead.

Anita teaches criminological theories and global criminology to undergraduate students, and cybercrimes to postgraduate students. She is a recurrent guest lecturer on cybercrimes and serious and organised crime.

In 2016, Anita won a SAGE Junior Faculty Professional Development Teaching Award.
