Dr Edilson Arruda DSc
Lecturer in Business Analytics / Management Science

My main interest is to use optimisation under uncertainty as a tool to address relevant problems from an industrial or societal standpoint.
I use stochastic modelling tools to understand and optimise real world problems under uncertainty, with a particular interest in healthcare.
Edilson Fernandes de Arruda was awarded his DSc in Electrical Engineering from the University of Campinas, Brazil, in 2006. He has experience in the fields of Industrial Engineering and Management Science, with an emphasis on Operational Research problems under uncertainty. His research focuses on the application of Markov decision processes and stochastic modelling tools to model and solve challenging real-world problems while considering the underlying uncertainties. It includes topics such as exact and approximate dynamic programming, reinforcement learning and stochastic optimal control.
He is particularly interested in using operational research to address challenging and relevant industrial and societal problems, with a particular interest in healthcare modelling and optimisation. The applications include but are not limited to logistics, inventory and queueing models, dynamic systems and analytics.
