Hi, I'm Bethan Haynes and I studied BSc Population and Geography within Social Sciences: Social Statistics & Demography at the University of Southampton.

It allowed me to have a well rounded, fun and fulfilling time at University and I loved every minute.

Q: Why did you choose to undertake your studies in Population & Geography at the University of Southampton?

I chose Population and Geography because I loved studying Human Geography at A level but I'm also very interested in Maths. I also found that Southampton is a great university. I really like the student staff ratio, the staff are so attentive and they really care.

Q: What have you been able to achieve as a result of studying at the University of Southampton?

I loved the University, it allowed me to work part time which was a great way to make friends and top up my student loan, as well as being good to have on my CV. I also joined AIESEC which allowed me to spend 2 months teaching abroad after first year; I don't think I'd have got that opportunity elsewhere. I also got an opportunity to do youth work after second year because of a charity that visited the university. I also got to play netball which was so much fun and the sports facilities are great. In general it allowed me to have a well rounded, fun and fulfilling time at University and I loved every minute.

Q: What are your plans for the future?

Three days after graduating I moved to London to start work, which I wouldn't have got were it not for Southampton as I found the job on the blackboard site. They absolutely loved my course at interview as it wasn't like any they'd seen before and I was perfectly suited to the job. The work experience and everything else helped too of course! I love my job, and hope to progress quickly, but most of all my plan is to be happy and stay in touch with all the amazing people I met at Southampton.

Q: Any other comments?

All in all I recommend it unreservedly, and will miss it!
