International links

Our international reputation for academic and teaching excellence helps us to continuously strengthen our links all over the world. We are involved in a wide range of research collaborations with a selection of universities across the globe, and many of our research and teaching staff have lived and worked outside the UK at some point in their careers. Others have chosen Southampton to pursue and develop their careers.

The Southampton Education School aims to establish partnerships with countries outside Europe. We currently have partnerships with Xiamen and ECNU universities in China.

Our partnership with Xiamen has enriched learning experiences for both students and staff. Lecturers from School of Education make regular visits to Xiamen to contribute to teaching, work with staff and support the students. We currently have twenty students studying on our Masters and Pre-Masters Programmes at Southampton and Xiamen. Through close international partnership and the internationalisation of our teaching, we have been able to improve the transition to overseas study for both students at home and abroad. We are also collaborating on a teaching and learning partnership with colleagues at King Faisal University, Saudi Arabia, and we are currently developing further partnerships with higher education institutions in India, Brazil and Taiwan.

Over the next few years we anticipate developing further programme in which students from institutions will spend a significant period of their study time in Southampton. Contact us for more information.

International Higher Education Development

We aim to support higher education networks in under-developed countries; to construct enterprising teaching and research activities for the wider good and to be at the centre of an international network for higher education development.

Already a lead player, we strive to excel in consultancy, research and development in education training and research development.
