About
Prof Holweger is a Visiting Professor for the Operartional Research group in the School of Mathematical Sciences.
Currently, he is working on the development and integration of sustainable and green based high-tech materials for a prominent bearing supplier as well as the implementation of ML based life-cycle prediction tools covering the substitution of ecological and toxicological chemicals.
He was formerly engaged as a Visiting Professor at the national Centre for Advanced Tribology at Southampton (nCATS) through his role at Schaeffler Technologies in Germany.

Current research
The current research is focused on
1) Product development
- Searching for sustainable novel products in a high-tech application for the bearing industry which covers product development and advanced analytics on TRL 1 level by combining digital and ML based prediction with lab scale investigations.
- Product implementation up to TRL 8.
- Toxicological investigations according to EU REACH and US FDA .
2) ML based investigation deducing the remaining life of wind turbines

Biography
Prof Holweger has a PhD in Chemistry in the field of material science; specifically research and development in industry focused an sustainable and high efficient materials and their life cycle assessment.
This PhD helped Prof Holweger become an expert in high-tech material analytics, which led to research with several different universities worldwide and numerous publications.
