Prof Walter Holweger is awarded as a Royal Academy of Engineering Visiting Professor in Material Science, Tribology and Lubrication Chemistry within Engineering and Physical Sciences at the University of Southampton since September 2015.

Walter is also a Senior Key Expert at Schaefller Technologies, Germany. He has extensive research and industrial expertise in chemistry, materials and tribology. As RAEng Visiting Professor at the University, his role is to enhance students learning experiences and improve their employability through knowledge transfer from industry to university and actively involve in a range of teaching and mentoring of student projects.
