Key Project: PETRA: PErsonalising the pharmacological TReatment of ADHD

This project, funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) via a Research Professorship awarded to Professor Samuele Cortese, aims to develop and test a tool to support shared decision making for the personalised selection of ADHD medications for children and adolescents.

We are developing the tool based on individual participant data from randomised controlled trials of ADHD medications and real-world data from electronic healthcare records. We will start testing the tool in a feasibility randomised controlled trial in September 2026. Further updates will follow.

May 2026: You can now access our Evidence-Based Interventions for ADHD (EBI-ADHD) platform here

This is a freely available, user friendly, evidence placed platform that brings together the best available research on how different treatments proposed for ADHD work and how safe they are. It helps clinicians, people with ADHD and their carers, guideline developers, and other decision-makers make informed choices.
