Event details

Abstract: In this Centre for Risk Research seminar, Alastair Barron will draw upon his extensive experience of working in senior positions in risk, security and operations management to evaluate the relative merits of contemporary risk management practices. He will reflect critically on the extent to which risk management is a scientific discipline, informed by sound theory and empirical evidence, or an intuitive practice based on experience and reflexive responses to evolving and unpredictable circumstances.
