Law of the World Trade Organization
The World Trade Organization is a key facilitator of globalisation. It provides the legal framework for the regulation of international trade in goods and services through the pursuit of progressive reduction in barriers to trade. Underpinned by binding dispute settlement, its rules constitute a significant body of Law, the effects of which are substantial both within international trade law and beyond.
This module explores the economic rationale for the WTO, its governance, substantive rules and core principles. It also identifies, assesses and considers potential solutions to selected contemporary challenges facing the WTO. Some such challenges arise internally, for example relating to WTO decision-making and recent challenges to its dispute settlement. Further challenges are outward looking, including its relationship with other branches of international law such as international environmental and human rights law, and, increasingly, questions relating to its very legitimacy. -

Leadership and Ethics
The module for Leadership & Ethics focuses on equipping you with the interdependent skills for innovative design thinking for Design Management. The Design council highlight (2020) that design encompasses ‘the head, the mind and the hand, to be able to effectively problem solve along with a focus to Human Centred activity and practical application. The Leadership module will considered the interconnectedness of leadership, design and business and focus on the shifting key challenges in a turbulent society today and of the future, recognising how and where design leadership plays its part. A key part of this is problem solving, considering the opportunities, constraints and challenges of the impact of sustainable practice, digital tech-nologies and the role artificial intelligence will play.
The module will explore skills such as design thinking, problem solving, project management and collaboration in design that enable a leader to strategically plan forwards. Curiousity, em-pathy and questioning are core skills that become a key part of the processes involved, as well as recognising the essential practicalities of resource, time and technological impacts. You will be introduced to ethics in leadership and how this is being challenged in the disruptive land-scape of GenAI to set new strategic activities to ensure authenticity.
The leadership module is also based on the understanding that research is increasingly inter-disciplinary, global and is conducted through a range of technologies and methods. The mod-ule will introduce you to the principles and role of research in the context of creative and cul-tural industries, as well as provide grounding for professional and leadership skills to equip you for employability. -

Leadership and Innovation in Healthcare
Tomorrow's healthcare professionals will work in a context characterised by continual change, challenging environments, rapidly evolving technologies and the need for innovation. To operate successfully in this context, these professionals must be able to influence the delivery of high quality, safe healthcare, and support the continuous development of themselves, their profession, and the wider multi-disciplinary team.
To do this, they must be able to lead themselves, working autonomously, or as an equal partner with a range of other professionals, and be able to operate effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
This module is concerned with the application of leadership and management to deliver and improve these complex healthcare systems. Rather than examining leadership in a vacuum, we will instead critically evaluate what leadership is and how it is applied to influence change in healthcare settings. We will discuss and analyse concepts, theories, characteristics, tools, and practices across five broad themes of (1) teamwork and team leadership, (2) change and innovation (including digital innovation), (3) service improvement, (4) ergonomics, human factors, and risk management, (5) continuously developing yourself, your profession, and others. Much of the module will be spent in critical discussions and will involve in depth analysis of case studies that illustrate the five central domains of the module. -
