Choose Southampton

Find out why you should choose Southampton for your undergraduate degree.

Almost all our teaching staff have themselves been classroom teachers, or have been actively involved in training and mentoring in other settings. So their approach is firmly rooted in reality. Equally, because Southampton is a major research-led 'Russell Group' university, tutors are well aware of current thinking and policies in their own specialist areas, and may well have been involved in research themselves.

Beyond the campus, Southampton is a safe but lively place, with a modern shopping centre and waterfront pubs and cinemas. It is also a multicultural city, with thriving communities from many parts of the world. The city is full of green spaces and parks, including Southampton Common, designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest. The New Forest, Jurassic Coast and Isle of Wight are all within easy reach for a relaxing day out, and London is just over an hour away by train.
