About
Vicky is an aquatic ecologist and lecturer in Environmental Sciences within the School of Geography and Environment. Her research focus on biological invasions within aquatic systems and their impact on ecosystem functioning and services. She integrates predictive and empirical tools, including modelling, stable isotope and citizen science.
Champion of the Nature-Based Solutions Special Interest Group at the Southampton Marine and Maritime Institute.
Postgrad Rep and Social Media Lead of the British Ecological Society Invasion Science Group.

Research interests
- My work includes the use of individual-based models (IBMs), geographical information systems (GIS) and stable isotopes to increase understandings of invasion patterns and evaluate invasive species eradication programmes. I also use citizen science tools to co-produce knowledge with the general public and increase adaptation pathways to biological invasions.
- I have mainly work with fish in the past, but recently I have been fascinated by the invasion of the brown pelagic seaweed called sargassum.

Vicky is a Fellow of HEA, who lead modules related to Environmental Sciences degree, such as Ecology and Conservation (GGES1004) and Quantitative Methods (GGES1001).
