The British Psychological Society (BPS) is the professional body responsible for developing and supporting the discipline of psychology and disseminating psychological knowledge to the public and policy makers.
Our single-subject BSc programme provides you with a degree in psychology that is accredited as providing both Graduate Membership and the Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership (GBC)*. For anyone aiming to eventually qualify as a Chartered Psychologist, this is an important first step. For graduates working in other fields, the accreditation stands as evidence of the calibre of teaching at Southampton.
A number of our postgraduate programmes provide a higher level of accredition with the BPS. They are also approved by the Health Professions Council, which would then allow you to practice legally on the UK under a title such as Health Psychologist.
