I have developed myself as a person by meeting new people coming from different cultures. I have also been starting to learn the underlying concepts of how the business world works and increased my knowledge in this area.

The international environment at University of Southampton is one of the most important factors that convinced me to come and study here. Furthermore, I would mention the great infrastructure and facilities that create a suitable environment for achieving my goals.

I have developed myself as a person by meeting new people coming from different cultures. I also consider that I have been starting to learn the underlying concepts of how business world works and increased my knowledge in this area.

I am a Course Rep for all the Marketing Year 1 students. I have also been involved in Southampton Business School’s Visit Days as a Student Ambassador. These activities helped me develop my communication and leadership skills. I had also the chance to work in a team within the Spawn pre-accelerator programme created by the Business and Entrepreneurship Society.

This have already started a summer internship with a local company, having the role of Marketing Co-Ordinator. I am confident that this is a great chance to experience the things I learnt in my lectures in the real business world and I strongly believe that this experience will be beneficial for my future employability.

I am really glad that we learn business concepts both at micro and at macro level and we focus a lot on case studies that show us how companies acted at certain moments of their existence.

The University organises many Careers and Employability fairs, but the events I enjoyed the most were two business simulations hosted by Accenture and Microsoft Business Partners at Southampton Business School. They were great ways of learning about these companies from their employees and at the end we had a chance to network with them.

First of all, Southampton is a suitable city for a student that wants to make the most of both: his academic life and extra-curricular activities. I truly enjoy the great number of parks in the city and I consider Highfield Campus the place where I have always dreamt to study. Of course, don’t forget to save time to meet new people and learn from their stories and experiences.

My advice to other students is to make the most of your time as a fresher! Get involved in all the activities that seem attractive to you, meet new people and learn to become one of the best professionals in the industry sector that you want to work in.
