Professor Anna Barney BSc, MSc, PhD
Associate Dean Education, Professor of Biomedical Acoustic Engineering

Professor Anna Barney is Associate Dean Education within Engineering and Physical Sciences at the University of Southampton.
Anna Barney was awarded a BSc in Physics and MSc in Electronics and, in 1995, a PhD in Speech Acoustics all at the University of Southampton. She was appointed as a lecturer in 1998, promoted to Senior Lecturer in 2004 and to Professor of Biomedical Acoustic Engineering in 2014.
Anna Barney's research interests are primarily in the acoustics of speech production. She also has developing interests in assessment of muscle function and in lung sounds.

- mechanomyography for assessing muscle activation
- measurement and analysis of lung sounds.
