Dr Booker Ogutu is currently a Lecturer in Remote Sensing within Geography and Environmental Science at the University of Southampton. His research interests lie in the exploitation and application of Earth Observation data to understand terrestrial ecosystem characteristics and their dynamics.

Booker's current research focuses on the use of Earth Observation data to:

  • Understand terrestrial ecosystem change in drylands and their drivers
  • Quantify terrestrial carbon exchange and its dynamics in a changing climate
  • Estimate and predict agricultural production and develop early warning systems to improve food security in developing countries

Booker is currently involved in supervising the following students:
• Francesco D'Adamo: "Understanding the drivers of changes in vegetation condition in African rangelands"
• Luke Brown: "Developing methods for automated validation of vegetation bio-physical products derived from Earth Observation data"
