Hi, I'm Siew Wei Ling and I studied BSc Mathematics with Actuarial Science within Mathematical Sciences at the University of Southampton.

I enjoy the teaching here as the lecturers are fun and really supportive. Their lectures are lively and enjoyable. Besides that, I also enjoy the study environment and the facilities, particularly the library.

Why did you choose to study at the University of Southampton?

Actuarial Science was the first subject that came into my mind when I considered what to study for my degree. I have loved mathematics so much since secondary school and was confident within this field. So, I did research on UK universities and University of Southampton is one of the well-known universities in UK with long history, great reputation and has a high-ranking for maths which made it an easy decision.

What did you enjoy about your time at the University of Southampton?

I enjoy the teaching here as the lecturers are fun and really supportive. Their lectures are lively and enjoyable. Besides that, I also enjoy the study environment and the facilities, particularly the library.

What have you achieved from your degree?

Throughout the 3 years studying for my degree, I have gained a good grounding in actuarial science from a reputable university along with presentation and report writing skills which I am sure I will be invaluable in my future career.

What are your future career plans?

I'm planning to find a job in Beijing, China after graduate. Hopefully I got the chance to be a trainee as an actuary in a big company. Studying in University of Southampton is definitely a great decision that I had made in my life. I'm proud and happy to be a student from this university.
