Publication Success for Senior Lecture in Risk Group

Dr. Jing-Ming (Thomas) Kuo, a member of the Centre for Risk Research, had good cause to celebrate the start of the New Year following the news that two of his papers will be published in respected journals.

Jing-Ming, who joined the Southampton Management School as a Senior Lecturer in Finance in September 2013, will see one of the papers that he wrote with Lutao Ning and Xiaoqi Song published in The International Journal of Accounting. This particular paper explores real and accrual-based earning management behaviours using evidence from the split-share structure reform in China. The second paper that he wrote with Lutao Ning, Roger Strange and Boya Wang will be published in the International Business Review and examines international investors' reactions to cross-border acquisitions by emerging market multinationals.

Jing-Ming's research interests lie in Behavioural Finance, Asset Pricing, Derivatives Markets, Applied Financial Econometrics and Corporate Finance (M&A and Corporate Governance). His research looks into factors resulting in abnormal returns and special phenomena and trading in stock or derivatives markets.
