The Centre for Risk Research (CRR) is delighted to announce the appointment of a new Research Fellow, Jason Wang, who is expected to complete his PhD in Finance at the University of Bristol in July.

Jason will be working on a two-year project sponsored by the Seven Investment Management (7IM). 7IM is a London-based leading investment management company currently managing around 10 billion of funds. The project will develop several cutting-edge factor-based portfolio construction strategies that are based on Big data and newly developed statistical techniques.

On starting his new project Jason commented that: “I feel so honoured to be a member of the Centre for Risk Research. It is a life changing opportunity for me to work within such a talented and motivated team. The fact that this project matches very well with my research interests makes me feel very excited to get started.’’

Jason has been a portfolio management researcher over the past 4 years. His PhD thesis focuses on portfolio optimization and dynamic trading. Prior to his PhD, he gained a Bachelor degree in Accounting and Finance at the University of Bath and a Master’s degree in Financial Engineering at the Imperial College London. His dissertation for the MSc, which explored dynamic modelling of implied volatility and option pricing, achieved the highest mark in the research dissertation and was awarded the ICBS Prize. Jason also has internship experiences at several global banks including the Bank of China and ICBC. In the past few years, he has worked as a teaching assistant and examination marker at the Universities of Bath and Bristol.
