Professor Johnnie Johnson, Director of the Centre for Risk Research has been elected Vice-President of the Asia Pacific Association for Gambling Studies (APAGS): a not-for-profit international academic network consisting of scholars, professionals, regulators, and policy makers focussed on gambling research and the gaming business around the world.

On hearing the news of his appointment, Professor Johnson commented that “ It is a great honour to know that my research in the areas of decision making in speculative environments and betting markets has been recognised in this way. This position and my continuing work on the Academic Committee of APAGS is an excellent means of promoting further research in the exciting areas of risk taking and speculation, particularly in the Asia-Pacific region”.

APAGS is dedicated to promoting multi-disciplinary gambling studies through consultancy, scientific research and international conferences and via the publication of scholarly journals. The most recent conference organised by APAGs on Gambling and Commercial Gaming was held in Beijing in 2015 and attracted researchers, policy makers and regulators from around the world. APAGS also publish the Journal of Gambling and Commercial Gaming Research.
