Making a difference to society through research

Maximising the impact of research

The Wessex Institute exists to make a difference to society through health research and the way it is prioritised, funded, managed, disseminated and used. As an enterprise unit in the Faculty of Medicine, the Wessex Institute is an important component of the University of Southampton.

We offer a broad range of scientific expertise in health research and research management. Our team also includes specialists in information management, evaluation and impact, finance, contracting, public and patient involvement and communications.

We are interested in new partnerships and new applications of our approach so we can make an even bigger difference.

“I am not aware of any health research funding agency – anywhere in the world – which has done more than the Wessex Institute through NETSCC to reduce avoidable waste in research".
