Summer Project Placement Overview

Our summer project placement scheme will give you access to our talented postgraduate students who, using their analytical skills could transform parts of your company or organisation.

We are looking for innovative managers who want a fresh perspective and expert analysis of a problem or issue to offer placements to our master’s students. They have expert skills in Operational Research, Business Analytics and Management Science, Finance, Supply Chain Management & Logistics, or Data and Decision Analytics.

You would be in good company. Sponsors already working with us include Boeing, British Airways, Ford Motor Company, Barclaycard, the NHS and other major public and private sector organisations.

Our students use a wide range of analytical techniques, including simulation, optimisation, statistical analysis and problem-structuring methods to develop a workable solution to the business problem you set them. Our academic supervisors guide the students on how to use the latest research in analytics as well as current issues in your specific business sector.

Project Facts

CORMSIS projects last three months, from July to September.

You can interview our students to select the individual who would work best with your team.

Academic supervisors support our students throughout their time with you.

Management, Mathematics and Operational Research are always very important to Boeing; we spend billions of dollars a year on research.

It’s not just about what the numbers are and how you get to the answer. It’s about what you do with that information once you’ve got it, what are the management recommendations you will make using it and how your business will be different tomorrow than it is today.
