What our students think

I enjoyed the variety of topics that were covered, and the flexibility of my course meant I could always choose modules outside of my course subject area, enabling me to broaden my knowledge and hence improve academically. I had the opportunity to be a course representative, working closely with my course mates and lecturers at every point in my degree.

I became a student again after 12 years. At the beginning I was quite apprehensive about study. The structure of the course forced me to study hard but I enjoyed the study very much; which I never had in all my past 35 years. I feel like studying there for a few years more!

One of the best highlights in my career so far has been getting a degree in the field of Education Management and Leadership. It has enabled me to become a professional Education Counsellor, where I can help students to understand the value of education.

My time at Southampton has definitely helped to me grow as a person and I have increased my knowledge of my subjects. I am more independent and confident, have had some amazing experiences, made friends for life and have wonderful memories.

It has completely changed my outlook towards professional development and how learning can be integrated into the work place.

I have been put in great schools for my placement and this has really set me up for my future career as a primary teacher. I was also lucky enough to travel to Kenya and teach over there. This was an incredible experience that I will remember for the rest of my life!

My Master's studies as well as inspiring lectures during my undergraduate and master studies inspired me to expand my studies at a PhD level.

I didn't start my undergraduate degree thinking that I would go on to do a PhD. The variety of modules I had the opportunity to complete during my degree inspired me to work towards a career in research or academia.

The team at the education school were fantastic. They were always supportive and there to help, both with qualifying as a teacher and finding a permanent job at the end of my studies. They made every effort to tailor the placement to your needs and aspirations, whilst providing a range of places to train.

Meeting amazing professors whilst completing my MSc Education made me believe that the University of Southampton was the perfect place to continue my study with a PhD.
