Dr Emma Teasdale BA (Hons), MSc, PhD
Research Fellow

Dr Emma Teasdale is a Research Psychologist and Research Fellow in Primary Care within the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Southampton.
Her research involves conducting qualitative and mixed methods studies to understand people’s behaviour in response to health threats and chronic illness. She completed her PhD in 2015 on understanding behavioural responses to acute respiratory infections. Her work used qualitative research methods to explore public perceptions of non-pharmaceutical interventions that aim to reduce the transmission of acute respiratory infections in both pandemic and non-pandemic contexts.
Her research work since has involved conducting qualitative and mixed methods studies in chronic kidney disease, asthma, vitiligo, cellulitis and childhood eczema. She is currently working on the Eczema Care Online (ECO) Project, which aims to promote effective eczema self-care by improving individuals’ knowledge of eczema treatments and influencing attitudes, skills, and habits related to treatment use.
