Research

Current research

My scholarship centres around the geographies of migration and development, as a broad umbrella covering a number of strands, including: i) geopolitics of borders and migration; ii) gendering of remittances; and iii) migration, ageing and care in later life. More recently, I am developing a research interest on the links between climate change and mobilities/migration.

My focus is often on migrants' countries of origin, particularly in the Global South. Geographically my own empirical work has been conducted in Albania, but I have also supervised doctoral research examining migration in India, Pakistan, the Philippines, St Lucia, and the UK.
