When I first saw the Environmental Science course, I knew it was the perfect degree for me. It combines many different disciplines, which makes your module choices much broader than in other degrees.

The Environmental Science pathways give you the chance to specialise in what you’re interested in, at a very early stage of your degree.

I love water, and everything related to aquatic environments, so taking Marine Biology and Oceanography modules, working in the labs at the National Oceanography Centre, and going on boat practicals, is just amazing.

The Environmental Science staff are very friendly and caring. You can simply tell they really care about their students and want the best for us. It is really reassuring to know you have someone supporting and encouraging you to aim for the best throughout your degree and into your professional life.

I really like how the Environmental Science course is quite small; we all know and support each other, which gives it a really warm and friendly atmosphere.

The field trips are definitely one of the best parts of the course. It’s so much fun to go to the New Forest, to the beach or even to wear waders to take samples from a river. There’s a week-long field trip in the first year, and you get to know everyone on the course really well, even the lecturers. Learning in the field is much easier than in a lecture theatre, and a lot of fun.

Most of the people I’ve met at university inspire me to be a better version of myself, are incredible friendly and supportive. It’s hard to believe that in so little time, some of them have already become my best friends.
