About this course

On this BA German and Philosophy degree you'll become fluent in German and develop your abilities of philosophical analysis. You'll also spend a year living and working abroad.

You'll have the opportunity to:

  • start at a level that matches your ability in spoken and written German, which will help you to progress quickly - this programme does not require a German A Level
  • explore the most fundamental questions about who we are, and examine philosophical thought from ancient times right up to the present day
  • become fluent in a major international language and spend a year in a German-speaking country
  • develop the analytical, research and personal skills relevant to a range of careers and professions, including those for which German is a key requirement

You’ll have excellent resources to support you, including the Centre for Language Study which offers language and academic advising.

You can also choose from modules covering areas including linguistics, translation and globalisation.
