Module Overview

This module aims to provide students with an introduction into a selection of advanced concepts in magnetic resonance. The module will introduce the students to a range of applications with a focus on current topics of research in magnetic resonance.

Having successfully completed this module you will be able to:

  • Deep understanding of advanced topics in magnetic resonance
  • Ability to apply concepts to applications
  • Ability to research a topic in magnetic resonance
  • Solving magnetic resonance based problems
  • Investigate and suitable scientific resources
  • Work alone and as part of a team
  • Ability to present the results of solved problems in written and oral form


Two out of the following topics will be taught • Relaxation • Hyperpolarisation • Solid state NMR • Biological NMR • Magnetic Resonance Imaging
