The principles of operation of a range of electronic devices and healthcare monitoring wearable sensors. A2. The problems associated with designing practical circuits and systems. A3. Methodology to design a decision support system consolidating sensor data. A4. VLSI hardware implementation process flow and implementation strategies

Process flow of IC design and its real-life implementation F3. Choose appropriate sensors to address a healthcare problem and design the interface between the set of sensors and the data collection system. F4. Analyse and display data appropriate to the healthcare professional in user friendly and interpretable way.

Syllabus

Part of existing ELEC 2225 module: Existing D3 exercise (https://secure.ecs.soton.ac.uk/notes/elec2205/D3/) Existing D6 exercise (https://secure.ecs.soton.ac.uk/notes/elec2225/D6/) New design exercise for implementing ECG delineation algorithm developed in the 1st year as part of ELEC 12XX on real hardware - high level hardware coding, synthesis and implementation in FPGA platform and interfacing the hardware implementation with a commercially available wearable ECG acquisition system. A range of toolset will be learned such as signal processing tool (Matlab/Python), Hardware description language (Systemverilog/VHDL/Verilog), Hardware implementation platform (FPGA)
