The role of the supervisor within MHSTs is pivotal with high-quality supervision of trainee therapists being key to ensuring the successful delivery and sustainability of the MHSTs. It is expected that a ‘Community of Children and Young People’s MHST supervisors will evolve, which will become a growing resource to facilitate the development of MHSTs across a wider region beyond a given CCG footprint, and this will provide further support into the future for the sustainability of the EMHP programme.
This module will equip you with the skills, knowledge and competence to supervise Education Mental Health Practitioners EMHP) in practice. The module is a blend of learning involving formal taught days, learning specifically directed by the University, up skilling with regards to the EMHP role and observation of supervision. The module is designed to front load theory and then to introduce you to this practice through observation of skilled practitioners. As your skill set increases you will increase your participation in the supervision and this will then be assessed and observed in supervision of supervision (Meta Supervision).
