In this module we move on to the next phase of ESP practice: implementing courses through a principled approach to ESP methodology and the design of appropriate materials and activities. In the first block of the module you will examine language systems and uses in ESP, relating them to varieties of academic and occupational communication, and to the key ESP process of needs analysis and materials design. In the second block we compare EFL and ESP methodology and explore ESP principles and practice in the teaching of language and skills in a range of ESP contexts.
