Module overview
This module covers the principles and practices of responsible leadership. It looks at the philosophical foundations of ethics and applies principles to real-life cases and hypothetical dilemmas. Techniques of ethical management are presented. Causes and consequences of unethical business practices are discussed, along with theories of ethical decision making.

Syllabus
- Stakeholder theory and stakeholder management (e.g. Overview of stakeholder theory and stakeholder management, and the link between stakeholder theory and ethics).
- Ethical awareness and moral imagination.
- Moral philosophy and ethical theories incorporating notions of rights, justice and virtue and sustainability.
- Organisational ethics and business ethics management - how to translate values into policies, practices, and decision making.
- Case studies of responsible leadership
- Giving voice to values – ethical empowerment in the workplace.
Learning and Teaching
Teaching and learning methods
Teaching methods will combine lectures with regular practical exercises, class discussions and informal group presentations. Structured ‘homework’ assignments are also carefully designed to enable reflective learning and engagement with key issues. This will include lectures, class discussions and group activities.
