Module overview
This module provides you with an introduction to Fashion Design principles and processes. Through the creation of a portfolio of work you will develop your understanding of practices, techniques and skills required within fashion design. You will experience Menswear and Womenswear design through workshops and set projects, as well as experiment and explore a range of skills to help you understand the core principles and processes of Fashion Design, the making of garments and a portfolio.

Relationship between the teaching, learning and assessment methods and the planned learning outcomes
In this module, creative and interactive learning and teaching activities focus on helping you to develop a range of skills through which you can explore set projects in fashion design. You will experience a variety of creative and technical workshops, which are designed to give you an introduction to fashion design.
Lectures and visual presentations will introduce you to the principles and processes of the subject, project themes and contextualise your thinking.
Group and one-to-one tutorials are held with specialist staff that will help you to review your progress and development. Group discussion and critical reviews will provide opportunities for peer group learning and self-evaluation.
A funded study visit and industry guest speakers further enhance your learning experience.
