Module overview
Within this module students will realise their creative ambitions through the independent development of a Final Collection. Students will be expected to utilise their specialist skills in a coherent and focused direction, showing individual innovation within contemporary Textile Design across knit, print and weave. Higher levels of refinement are expected in your work, using critical and analytical abilities in the design process to fully resolve outcomes. You will focus on presenting your work in a professional context in preparation for graduation and employment. The module represents the culmination of your study.
Within this module, you will focus your practice in relation to where you position yourself in the textile industry or future career / study aspiration.

Having successfully completed this module you will be able to:
- apply a variety of practical skills effectively and professionally in the making and finalisation of your work
- evidence the practical development of your work in an organised way
- identify an individual and ambitious approach to the discipline through the realisation of practical work to a professional standard
- resolve conceptual and technical problems in the production of design collections, prototype fabrics, paper and materials and where applicable, products
- produce work demonstrating higher levels of refinement
- work and use machines and equipment safely and professionally in the studios and workshops

Syllabus
This module enables you to develop a self-directed and independent ambitious body of resolved outcomes for an intended context depending on your pathway of study. You will develop a body of highly individual contextual research which relates to a theme of your choosing. You will direct and realise your ideas conceptually and practically through in-depth visual research, experimentation and higher level technical skills gained throughout the course. The module content will evolve following your chosen, self-directed project, enabling you to challenge the conceptual and practical boundaries of your discipline within a focused direction to create an informed and refined final collection.
